BCA were instructed to design a single storey rear extension of modern design to contrast against the C.19th cottage. Previously internally remodelled by the clients, the split level kitchen / dining to the rear was no longer practical for their young family. The rear of the house was opened up into the 4m deep rear extension with a kitchen / dining / living space reconfigured and opening out on to the rear garden with a protective canopy over the rear bi-folding doors. A separate rear entrance and downstairs WC was also afforded within the extended space.
